From Glasgow's Menthol Mists to Devon's Custard Dreams: A Flavour Tour of Britain

Britain has always been a nation of regional quirks. We argue about gravy, split over scones (jam first or cream first — there is a right answer), and defend our local chip shop to the death. So it stands to reason our vaping habits would be just as stubbornly local.
We've been having a look at what flavours actually fly off the (virtual) shelves in different corners of the UK, and honestly? The patterns are glorious.
Scotland: The Menthol Stronghold
Let's start up top. Scotland's love affair with menthol and icy cool flavours is no secret — and it makes sense when you remember that menthol cigarettes were hugely popular north of the border before the flavour ban on cigarettes. When the ban came in, vapers simply carried the loyalty over.
Peppermint, ice menthol, and frosty fruit hybrids dominate Scottish orders. If you're vaping in Glasgow or Edinburgh, chances are your exhale comes with a chill.
The North West: Sweet Tooth Central
Manchester, Liverpool, and the surrounding towns have a serious sweet tooth — and the e-liquid orders prove it. Candy flavours, sherbet blends, and anything that tastes like a 1990s corner shop do roaring trade.
There's a strong argument that the North West invented the modern candy vape trend, given how many UK e-liquid brands started in the region. Whether that's true or not, they're certainly keeping it alive.
The Midlands: Fruit with a Twist
The Midlands keep it refreshingly straightforward — but with a curveball. Classic fruit flavours lead the way here, particularly berry blends and tropical mixes. But the region also shows surprising love for aniseed and liquorice, a flavour that most of the country abandoned years ago.
Someone in Nottingham is buying liquorice e-liquid right now. We don't know who. But we salute you.
London and the South East: Café Culture in a Bottle
Down in the capital, the flavour profile gets noticeably more, well, sophisticated. Coffee, tobacco blends with vanilla undertones, and bakery-inspired liquids do particularly well — think cappuccino, caramel latte, and butter pastry.
Whether that's genuine café culture or just Londoners being Londoners about their flavour choices, we'll let you decide.
The South West and Wales: Dessert Country
Here's where it gets indulgent. The South West of England and much of Wales show a real appetite for dessert vapes — custards, vanilla creams, rice pudding, and sticky toffee anything.
It's hard not to see the connection to proper British puddings. When your nan's Sunday roasts and school dinners featured custard as a food group, of course you want it in a bottle.
Northern Ireland: Tobacco Stays True
Across the water, traditional tobacco flavours hold on stronger than anywhere else in the UK. That's not to say fruit and menthol don't sell — they do — but the share of classic tobacco and RY4-style blends is noticeably higher than on the mainland.
For many vapers there, the whole point of switching was replicating the cigarette experience. Fair enough.
What This Means for Your Next Order
So your region has a flavour personality. Does that mean you're stuck with it? Absolutely not — that's half the fun. Some of the best flavour discoveries come from trying what the other end of the country is enjoying.
If you're a menthol loyalist from Leeds, maybe give a Southern-style custard a go. If you're a Devon dessert devotee, a Scottish ice menthol might be the palate cleanser you never knew you needed.
Find Your Regional Flavour Profile
Fancy a bit of self-diagnosis? Ask yourself:
- You reach for anything with 'ice' in the name — Scottish at heart
- Your ideal evening is a bag of cola bottles — North West through and through
- You own a gilet and a coffee subscription — London calling
- Custard is a love language — South West or Wales
- You just want it to taste like a proper cig — Northern Ireland, or possibly just refreshingly honest
Whatever your profile, the beauty of the UK vape scene is that every flavour tradition is a few clicks away. Your region might have a favourite — but your basket doesn't have to follow the crowd.
